Grade 12 (OSSD) or equivalent or mature student (18 years of age or older and one year out of school or more). Passing score on the entrance examination. Standard First Aid Certificate & CPR Certificate (Level C-Basic rescuer) must be obtained before starting the clinical placement. Medical certificate indicating student is fit to undertake the program, has to be up-to-date immunization, and is free of communicable diseases. Immunization for Hepatitis B is required. Police check (clearance) of Criminal/Vulnerable Record must be produced within thirty (30) days of starting school.
Minimum grade of 70% in all modules. Completion of all modules and testing performance modules. Completion of Clinical Placement. Successful completion of the PSW Final Standardized Examination administered by the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC).

In the Personal Support Worker program, students spend a number of hours in a practical placement. The practicum is provided in a facility, or in the home of a client, or in other community support settings. IT gives students the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through experiential learning under the supervision of a clinical instructor. Frequently, this may result in the student being offered a position.
